ABOUT

Ruhut is a Counsel of NARA Law and one of leading lawyers in the firm's prominent Banking, Finance and Fintech Practice Group. With over ten years of professional experience, she is a highly accomplished tech, data privacy and transactional attorney. Her background includes strategic in-house roles, such as Senior Legal Counsel at Bank Aladin Syariah, a leading Indonesian Sharia digital bank, and Legal Counsel at Advance Intelligence Group, a major Southeast Asian fintech company. During her tenure, Ruhut counseled senior management on regulatory compliance, internal governance, stakeholder relations, and key third-party agreements.

Ruhut possesses extensive experience advising a diverse clientele, from established market leaders to innovative start-ups across Asia. Her industry expertise spans financial services, fintech, TMT (technology, media, telecoms), payment services, peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, and digital banking. She regularly guides C-level executives on intricate issues involving privacy and data protection law, regulatory compliance and licensing, data governance, and data security considerations within M&A transactions.

Her practice encompasses the full spectrum of Sharia-compliant financing transactions, digital platform compliance, cybersecurity, data-driven marketing strategies, and emerging advertising technologies. Ruhut is adept at navigating the licensing, operational, and product compliance requirements for fintech, digital bank, and peer-to-peer lending businesses. She has substantial experience drafting and negotiating privacy aspects of commercial agreements, privacy policies, technology-related contracts, data processing/sharing agreements, and advising on cross-border data transfers.

Beyond her significant in-house and tech-focused experience, Ruhut has a strong practical understanding of traditional financing, capital markets, and M&A. She previously worked at a prominent Indonesian corporate law firm recognized for its M&A, financing, and capital market credentials. Her experience includes advising on secured and unsecured credit facilities, structured loans, Sharia financing, debt restructurings, rights issues, IPOs, and bond issuances. Notably, she contributed to a transaction involving the rights issue of a major Indonesian mining company, valued at approximately Rp 27 trillion.

Ruhut is recognized for her unique ability to blend technical legal skill in structuring investments and deals with strategic leadership in transaction and project management. She can get down into the nitty-gritty of the transactions and go all-out in a complex negotiation of the deals, but could also step back and be a field general for the client, to lead the project and see the big picture to get things done and achieve the client's ultimate goal.

Among her notable work, she has advised a major Indonesian payment platform on the procurement of payment services license and legal risk management. Ruhut also advised a Singaporean paint manufacturer on Indonesian export laws, and successfully facilitated Xiaomi’s market entry and product launching via e-commerce compliance and cross-border manufacturing deals.
